Geoffrey Modderman is the magistrate for Middletown Municipal Court. He has worked in this position since May of 2020. He began his legal career focusing on criminal law. He spent seven years representing indigent defendants as a public defender in Butler County. He also represented the City of Hamilton and the State of Ohio for three years as a municipal court prosecutor. Immediately prior to becoming a magistrate, he worked as an attorney in a solo practitioner law firm with a civil practice focused on landlord/tenant issues. For the preceding five years, he represented landlords in courts in Hamilton, Butler, Clermont, and Warren counties in Ohio and Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Kentucky.
He has an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2004. He is licensed to practice in Ohio and Kentucky. He is also admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
