On Sept. 9, 2024, the City of Middletown, in partnership with Brandstetter Carroll and Universal Contracting, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the $6.7 million renovation and expansion project of the Robert "Sonny" Hill Community Center. The new renovation and expansion will give the 83-year-old current building a much-needed aesthetic facelift, improved bathrooms, new flooring, ceilings, walls, electrical work and HVAC improvements, a brand-new full-sized gym with bleachers and a scoreboard, a new family zone, and additional parking.

LATEST UPDATE (1/21/25): The Sonny Hill Community Center expansion and renovation project is in the finishing touches stage! The interior renovation of the old building is complete and the expansion with new office space, community rooms, and gymnasium are in the painting and finishing touches stage.

Expected project completion date: Q4 of 2025. Ribbon-cutting set to happen in mid-December 2025!
